Today Was A Good Day

Today Was A Good Day

4 May you always be joyful in your union with the Lord. I say it again: rejoice!5 Show a gentle attitude toward everyone. The Lord is coming soon. 6 Don't worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart. 7 And God's peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus. 8 In conclusion, my friends, fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable. 9 Put into practice what you learned and received from me, both from my words and from my actions. And the God who gives us peace will be with you. – Philippians 4:4-9

Friends,

I hope things are going well for you today.

In the Church Year, this is the season of Advent. It is a tradition in many churches to observe a certain theme on the four Sundays in the season of Advent. Some churches observe Hope, Peace Joy and Love as their themes. Others observe Hope, Love, Joy and Peace as their themes.

I do know that in most churches, the third Sunday in Advent theme is Joy.

You’ll notice in the Bible passage above, Paul encourages his readers and hearer, “May you always be joyful in your union with the Lord. I say it again: rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4)

I know we can find many reasons not to rejoice in our worlds. I came upon this on Facebook by Our Lady of Mount Camel in Mill Valley. I have seen it before. Please read it to the end.

Today was the absolute worst day ever
And don’t try to convince me that
There’s something good in every day
Because, when you take a closer look,
This world is a pretty evil place.
Even if
Some goodness does shine through once in a while
Satisfaction and happiness don’t last.
And it’s not true that
It’s all in the mind and heart
Because
True happiness can be obtained
Only if one’s surroundings are good
It’s not true that good exists
I’m sure you can agree that
The reality
Creates
My attitude
It’s all beyond my control
And you’ll never in a million years hear me say that
Today was a good day.

Now read this from the bottom to the top. It changes one’s perspective.

I hope this brings joy to your day.

Peace,
