Grief

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and the first earth disappeared, and the sea vanished. And I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared and ready, like a bride dressed to meet her husband. I heard a loud voice speaking from the throne: “Now God's home is with people! He will live with them, and they shall be his people. God himself will be with them, and he will be their God. He will wipe away all tears from their eyes. There will be no more death, no more grief or crying or pain. The old things have disappeared.”

Dear Friends,

About once a year I go through my social media files and remove the names of people with whom I no longer have contact. As I went through my Facebook list…

The stone which the builders rejected as worthless turned out to be the most important of all. This was done by the LORD; what a wonderful sight it is! This is the day of the LORD's victory; let us be happy, let us celebrate! Save us, LORD, save us! Give us success, O LORD!

Psalm 118:22-25

Friends,

I was ordained on Sunday, May 26, 1985. The Psalm used as my ordination was from Psalm 118. Verse 22. It reads:

A Tale Of Two Journeys

A Tale Of Two Journeys

A Tale Of Two Journeys

5 The attitude you should have is the one that Christ Jesus had: 6 He always had the nature of God, but he did not think that by force he should try to remain equal with God. 7 Instead of this, of his own free will he gave up all he had, and took the nature of a servant. He became like a human being and appeared in human likeness. 8 He was humble and walked the path of obedience all the way to death—his death on the cross. 9 For this reason God raised him to the highest place above and gave him the name that is greater than any other name. 10 And so, in honor of the name of Jesus all beings in heaven, on earth, and in the world below will fall on their knees, 11 and all will openly proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:5-11

This Sunday is called Palm Sunday or Sunday of the Passion.

As I look at the Bible readings for this Sunday, I see Jesus making several journeys.

The first journey I see is…

Running toward the Goal

Running toward the Goal

Running toward the Goal

I do not claim that I have already succeeded or have already become perfect. I keep striving to win the prize for which Christ Jesus has already won me to himself. Of course, my friends, I really do not think that I have already won it; the one thing I do, however, is to forget what is behind me and do my best to reach what is ahead. So I run straight toward the goal in order to win the prize, which is God's call through Christ Jesus to the life above.

Philippians 3:12-14

Friends,

My wife and I joined a gym. She loves working out. Me. Not so much. But our thought is if we work out together, I will find fewer excuses not to work out. My favorite excuse is…
